Patient
Resource Cancer Guide
Reaches Major Milestones in Record Time
Just Eight Months Since Launch, Publication
Sprints Past Long-Range Goals
(Kansas
City, MO) The word “milestone” traces its roots
back to the Roman Empire, and were actually numbered stone
obelisks developed by road builders of the day. Their purpose
was two fold: To reassure travelers that the proper path
was being followed and to indicate distance traveled or
distance yet remaining.
That same word is in wide use today, but
with an entirely different meaning. A milestone now represents
a significant event, achievement made, or turning point
in life.
Patient Resource Cancer Guide, after just
eight months in national circulation, can claim some impressive
milestones using both of these meanings.
“We knew we were on the right path
when we launched,” according to founder Linette Atwood.
“But I could never have imagined the distance we’ve
come in such a short time.”
The cancer guide made its debut in April
2007 as the first ever publication of its kind: a direct
to patient educational tool, allowing cancer patients and
their families access to vital information in making informed
medical decisions about treatment.
Along the way, company officials point
out the following milestones for their inaugural edition:
With January now here, things don’t
seem to be slowing down in the New Year.
“We’re still taking orders
for our current guide, and easily able to meet the continuing
demand,” Atwood said. “It’s been an incredible
debut, and we see an even brighter future ahead –
not just for the guide itself, but for the millions of cancer
patients and their loved ones we’re able to reach.”
Atwood anticipates the availability of
the 2008 edition in early spring.
