CITY – One of the world’s leading researchers in the fight
against cancer adds another title to his impressive resume: Dr.
Charles M. Balch has been named as editor of Patient Resource and
will lead the directorys editorial focus.
This important partnership means a hopeful future for those suffering
with this disease, according to officials with Patient Resource

For more than 30 years, Dr. Charles M. Balch has led a distinguished
career as a clinical and academic surgical oncologist. He is recognized
as a leading authority in both melanoma and breast cancer, and
has made significant contributions to laboratory research in tumor
immunology.
Dr. Balch is currently Professor of Surgery and Oncology for
Johns Hopkins, as well as the Director for Clinical Trials and
Outcomes Research.
Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief
Executive Officer of the American Society of Clinical Oncology
(ASCO) in Washington, DC. He has held leadership positions at
three comprehensive cancer centers, including UAB, MD Anderson
and City of Hope. Dr. Balch is author of over 650 publications,
and is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Annals of Surgical
Oncology.
