Fertility & Cancer

If you’re of childbearing age or younger and have just been diagnosed with cancer, now is the best time to think about preserving your fertility. Talk with your cancer care team about the fertility risks associated with your treatment choices. Then, discuss the fertility-preserving options available to you. Some options are done before treatment, such as freezing and storing sperm or embryos for later use. Other options occur during treatment, such as taking hormones to minimize the treatment’s impact on fertility. You may wish to consult a specialist in reproductive endocrinology to discuss your options.
